Bio-TEX project and acclimatization of Mining cities and communities
The Bio-TEX project has been selected to take part in the New European Bauhaus exhibition in Brussels from April 9 to 14.
Official booth visit by Président de la Commission européenne, which was encouraged.
The project itself is about creation of a hygrothermal linen curtain by means of an artistic residency and a series of creative workshops in Harnes in the Nord Pas-de-Calais mining basin.
By using natural and living local materials (linen, wool, plants to create paints...) and allowing self making, the entire architectural language is involved.
Research and development of functional curtains designed with coal to reduce VOCs is in progress.
We not only respect the already existing culture and collective memory, but help to create new one, based on environmental respect and climate adaptation by preserving the beauty and identity of each house.
The whole creation process will bring together designers and textile engineers, PhD students, Master students in architecture, local suppliers, local NGO’s and research institutes, local authorities as well as the residents of the Cité d’Orient.

Chromophore Using an experimental approach, Hideyuki Ishibashi explores the relationship between man and nature. Through color, he questions the slag heap as a space of transition. The result of man's intervention and the embodiment of centuries of exploitation, slag heaps are today unique ecosystems where a rare and specific biodiversity is developing, which the artist places at the heart of his approach. He combines this with extensive research into the materiality of color: each print declines its own hue, the fruit of the insertion into the chemical process of pigments that he makes himself in collaboration with Machiko Saito, extracted from plants or flowers, collected on the slag heaps.
